Mothers and Others is a website constructed in early 1999. It was conceived as an examination of the potential for online data-gathering utilizing photo-elicitation. The University of Minnesota's Digital Media Center staff assisted with the design and programming of the interface. The site illustrated the potential contributions of new media to traditional methodological practices. The conclusions drawn from the design and implementation of Mothers and Others were presented in “Extending the Web: Using the Internet for Photo-elicitation” at the International Visual Sociology Association Conference, in Antwerp, Belgium, July 1999. |
